FFC, Customs, Punjab, KP win in national hockey

KARACHI: Newly-raised Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) pulled off an upset win on Wednesday, beating Port Qasim Authority (PQA) by 5-3 on the fifth day of the national hockey championship in Sukkur.

In other matches, Customs defeated PTV 3-0, Punjab downed FATA 9-2, and KP crushed Baluchistan 6-0. Asfandyar scored a brace in FFC’s 5-3 win over PQA. Wasim Akram, Awais Rehman and Ilyas were the other scorers. For PQA former Pakistan captain Shakeel Abbasi, Haris and Bilal found the target.

Young Customs team downed PTV 3-0. Waqas Ahmed, M Shoaib and Asad Arshad struck one goal each. Punjab bundled out FATA by 9-2. Punjab did not give any space to FATA. Ahmer Ali, Jahangir and Muzammil Husain scored a brace each. Ahsan, Faizan and Aaqil Saleem scored one each. KP faced no resistance from Baluchistan, beating them by 6-0. Adeel Zaman and Ziyad were the top scorers. Both scored a brace each. Jawwad and Naveed Iqbal netted one goal each.
