HANGU: The house of a tribal elder was blown up in the Hangu district in the small hours of Sunday. There was, however, no casualty.

 

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gul Jamal Marwat said that unidentified men had planted explosives at the entrance to the house of Zarman Shah situated in the Hamza Abad area. He said the main gate and a vehicle parked inside the house were destroyed in the blast.

 

In-charge of the Bomb Disposal Unit Asadullah said two kilogrammes of explosives had been used in the explosion. He said explosives placed near another house were also defused. Meanwhile, the police arrested three persons, including two militants, and recovered arms from them in raids in Wuch Bazaar in Hangu. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house and arrested Sher Gul and Mohammad Bilal. The accused were wanted to the police in a number of sabotage acts. The police official said one Kalashnikov rifle, a gun and bullets were seized during the action. Javed was arrested in a separate raid. Hashish and three hand grenades were recovered from his possession.
