Karachi
A group of people desperately searching for loved ones that were caught up in the devastating Baldia Town garments factory fire forced their way into the building on late Friday evening by breaking through the official seals placed by authorities.
The family members of missing people had been demanding that authorities allow them to search for their loved ones inside the gutted factory. Distraught over the state of affairs, the people fist rioted outside the main entrance and then some of them proceeded to enter the factory. They brawled with police personnel and demanded access to the site of the tragedy.
TV news channels reported that some of the bereaved family members claimed that they had received a call from the mobile phone of their relative who was missing after the incident.
Meanwhile, the police announced late on Thursday night that after the completion of search and rescue operations, the factory was completely sealed off.
After the fire brigade completed its work, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation handed over the building to SITE Limited, under whose jurisdiction the factory was situated.
