Prime Minister Raja Parvaiz Ashraf contacted political leaders to discuss the government’s efforts to maintain a congenial political environment and hold the general elections in a free, fair and impartial manner. The government has already shown its resolve by appointing Fakhruddin G Ebrahim as the chief election commissioner.

Now it is time for the opposition parties, particularly the PML-N and the PTI, to cooperate with the government on making this happen. It would be better to cooperate now than to level allegations of rigging later.
