This is with reference to S Iftikhar Murshed’s article ‘The chamber of horrors’ which was printed in The News of June 17. The learned writer presented the true picture of the present-day rulers of the country. Our experimentations with different forms of government – including martial laws and various versions of democracy, advocated by non-democratic people like Gilani and associates – have failed.

When we take into consideration the prevailing chaotic situation we come to the conclusion that no visible solution is available to us because the country has failed in producing able and trustworthy leaders. Without capable leaders, nothing can be achieved no matter how much legislation is done and how many sham debates are conducted in parliament. What is the solution then? Pakistan needs a revolution. If it doesn’t happen, we are destined to endure the chamber of horrors – perhaps forever.
