Once again the chief justice of Pakistan and the superior judiciary are under attack. The question is: why is the CJ being targeted again and again? The answer is simple. He is the only hurdle in the way of those who shamelessly indulge in corruption. In the Arsalan-Riaz case, the role of media has been quite unsatisfactory.

I request the media to handle the issue very carefully, keeping the interest of the country in view. Secondly, I also request the armed forces, especially the intelligence agencies, to come forward and clear their position to put an end to rumours that it is the military which wants to settle its score with the judiciary and is behind this sordid affair.

The people of this country are watching the drama staged to pressure the chief justice either to be on the back foot or bow out of the system.

The CJ must know that the nation appreciates the stance he has taken in the Arsalan-Riaz case and it firmly stands by him. I hope he doesn’t get discouraged by the dirty games of the political and military elite.
