PESHAWAR/MIRAMSHAH: Seven suspected militants were killed and five others injured in a US drone attack on a house in the remote Shawal Valley of North Waziristan Agency Thursday evening.

Security officials and tribal sources said the drone fired six missiles and struck a house reportedly being used by militants in the forest-covered and mountainous Shawal Valley near the Afghan border. Shawal Valley is about 75 kilometres south of Miramshah, the administrative headquarters of North Waziristan, and located on the border with South Waziristan.

Tribal sources also confirmed that seven people, all believed to be tribal militants, were killed and five others injured in the strike. These sources said though these were local militants there was no way to ascertain their identity as the bodies were burnt beyond recognition. The injured were taken to a private hospital.
