SHIKARPUR: At least six people were killed and several others, including women and a cop, were injured in armed clashes over old enmities in different areas of Shikarpur on Sunday. Police said that armed men of two rival groups traded fire near the Khanpur area of Shikarpur. Three persons were killed in an exchange of fire while five others were injured. When the police reached the scene, the armed men started firing, injuring a cop. In retaliatory action, three culprits were also killed and some others were injured. Meanwhile, four people, including a woman, sustained bullet wounds while two rival groups traded fire near the Hamayun area of Shikarpur. The bodies and injured were shifted to different hospitals of respective areas and the police, after registering separate cases at the concerned police stations, have started raids to arrest the culprits involved.
Our correspondent adds from Sukkur: Sources said that over an old enmity, armed persons of the Taighani group had attacked the house of Atta Muhammed Bijarani and in the attack Ameer Bakash, the son of Atta, was killed. The villagers later pursued the attackers and in the firing, Suleman and Rahim were killed and at least 12 persons were injured who were identified as Walidad Bijarani, Punhal Bijarani, Ashraf, Muhammed Yahya and Muhammed Noh Bijarani, Jani and Luqman. Police shifted the injured to Shikarpur due to lack of medical facility in Khanpur hospital but two injured, later identified as Jani Bijarani and Luqman Taighani, died.
