MANSEHRA: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday arrested a suspected militant on the charges of killing two polio workers and a policeman in Danna area earlier this year.
Sardar Khan, head of the CTD in Hazara, confirmed the arrest, but he said he was not in a position to release further information to the media.
A team of CTD, according to sources, conducted a raid in Shinkiari area in Mansehra and arrested Mohammad Siraj, who is stated to be the member of the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The accused confessed to his crime during investigation and revealed the names of his two accomplices who were on the run.
Two Lady Health Workers, Sitara Gul and Kaneez Nargis, and a policeman Mohammad Mushtaq, who was escorting the vaccinators, were killed by a group of armed men in Danna area in Mansehra on March 17 this year.
The accused was also taken to the crime scene amid tight security where he told the investigators about the modus operandi of the attack.
Sources said the three terrorists had travelled in a passenger vehicle from Mansehra to attack the polio team. The attackers, the sources said, entered the village in the guise of collecting donation for the construction of a mosque in a bid to hide their ulterior motives.
Sitara Gul, a mother of four, and the cop Mohammad Mushtaq had died on the spot during the attack. Kaneez Nargis, a mother of three, succumbed to her injuries at the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra city.
