PESHAWAR: The Provincial Paramedics Association has decided to remain peaceful and continue provision of health services till completion of the inquiry committee report and demanded the Health Department and Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) administration to take note of what they called hostile attitude of the trainee medical officers (TMOs) with them.
In a statement on Wednesday, Syed Roedar Shah, president Provincial Paramedics Association, said members of the association from LRH, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Hayatabad Medical Complex and Khyber College of Dentistry attended the emergency meeting and expressed their shock over the alleged abusive and aggressive attitude of TMOs with them.
Syed Roedar Shah said the TMOs gathered in front of the LRH administration every day and observe two-hour protest and used abusive language against paramedics. “We can answer them in the same manner but it doesn’t suit us. But I am afraid their negative remarks and abusive language against paramedics might infuriate our colleagues and could lead to unpleasant incident in the medical institution,” Roedar Shah said.
He said that after the clash between the TMOs and paramedics over ownership of residential hostel in LRH, which he alleged began after the young doctors captured the hostel built for paramedics, they cooperated with the hospital administration and Health Department and returned to work the very next day.
However, Roedar Shah demanded the Health Department and LRH administration to take note of the ongoing situation. He warned that they would go on strike and suspend health services across the province if the administration didn’t take notice of their demands.
