PESHAWAR: Taking another initiative for the welfare of youth, the Sports and Youth Affairs Directorate Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is forming student societies at the school and college levels to boost
the leadership qualities of
the young lot at the educational institutions across the province.
The directorate has sent a summary to the chief minister to establish student societies at Matriculation and Intermediate levels. It is to explore and exploit the qualities and abilities of the youth and instill confidence in them to learn various traits.
The initiative is aimed at giving youth the tools and guidance to make positive and healthy decisions themselves and inculcate self-esteem in them to become a successful individual in the society.
After the summary approval, the students would be able to get equal opportunities for extracurricular activities, including sports, debates and speech competitions, which will further polish their leadership qualities.
There will be a number of societies, including literary, sports, social welfare, adventure, technology and cultural at the every school and college levels.
The proposed literary societies would organize debates, mushairas or poetry recital sessions, essay competitions, story writing, calligraphy, and translation of English essays into Urdu and native languages and translation of Urdu and native languages essays into English.
The function of sports society is to arrange various indoor and outdoor games while the social welfare society would take steps for donating blood, organising medical camps and collecting funds for the poor and deserving students at the school and college levels.
It will also create awareness about cleanliness and surrounding environment in the society.
The cultural societies would arrange art, crafts, cultural paintings, dramas competitions to promote and preserve the cultural and traditional art.
There will also be adventure and technology societies to work out programmes for students in their respective educational institutions. The students participating in such societies would be given 20 extra marks to encourage them.
