PESHAWAR: The internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Khyber Agency Tuesday asked the government to announce a date for the return of displaced persons belonging to Sipah tribe to their native areas.
Speaking at a press conference, Tehreek Haqooq-e-Bara head Shah Faisal and others said that the security forces had claimed that the area had been cleared of militants. He said the return process of the dislocated families was in a final stage but the date for the return of the families belonging to Sipah tribe was yet to be announced, which has raised concerns among them.
Flanked by Rasool Jan, Luqman Khan and others, he said that political administration had also imposed Rs120 million fine on the Sipah tribe on the allegations that some people of the said tribe were involved in militancy.
He urged the government to provide compensation and rehabilitate the tribespeople or else they would stage a sit-in outside the Governor’s House.
