PESHAWAR: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani on Tuesday dismissed a sub-inspector on account of flawed investigation and suspended four others with ordering an inquiry against them.
A press release stated that one Shaukat Zaman sent an application to the IGP complaining that SI Diyar Khan, the Investigation Officer of a murder case in Mardan, is deliberately not following the directions issued for investigation of the case and submitted a flawed report.
Taking cognizance of the application of the complainant, the IGP directed a preliminary inquiry to probe the matter. The sub-inspector was found guilty and proper departmental action was ordered against him. In the light of the findings of the inquiry officer, the IGP issued orders of the dismissal with immediate effect.
Durrani also suspended sub-inspector Abdur Rauf, the former SHO of Sheikh Maltoon Police Station on account of delaying the registration of a first information report (FIR) in a car snatching case and having close contacts with the car lifters.
Besides, the IGP suspended sub-inspector Farman of Police Station Khazana, in Peshawar district and has ordered the initiation of departmental inquiry against him.
Also, Sub-Inspector Ijaz Khan, SHO Police Station Urmar, was suspended and departmental inquiry ordered against him.
Sub Inspector Muhammad Rafiq, the former SHO of Police Station Shah Qabool, Peshawar District, was also suspended and inquiry ordered against him. One Haji Fazal Badshah lodged a complaint before the IGP alleging that the SI Rafiq arrested him and kept him in illegal confinement for four days in a place outside the police station. Muhammad Rafiq has been previously charged of corruption and malpractices too.
