DIR: Students of government schools in Upper Dir have been studying in the open as the classrooms have been converted into stores for books.
The government is providing free books to students of government schools. These books were stored in many schools of the district instead of store in the warehouses.
The Government Primary School No-I Rehankot has been converted into warehouse for keeping books. Several other schools in Upper Dir are also used for the same purpose. Students have complained that they were facing difficulties as they were getting education in open air. Parents of some students said that they would admit their children in other areas if the situation remained unchanged.
Sources in the Education Department said that the issue had been taken with senior officials in Peshawar who had expressed their inability to resolve it.
When contacted, District Education Officer (DEO), Jan Mohammad said that his office had informed the provincial Education Department about the issue and problem faced by students. “In the light of the instructions of the provincial education department we will auction these books or send back to Peshawar,” he said.
