PESHAWAR: A member of the provincial assembly from the provincial capital allegedly tortured an assistant sub-inspector of the Bhanamani Police Station and fractured his hand.
At a time when the provincial government and the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are paying tributes to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for sacrificing 1,133 cops since 2006, one of the PTI MPAs Fazal Ilahi reportedly thrashed an ASI of Bhanamari Police Station for exchanging harsh words with his brother. The injured ASI was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital for treatment.
Senior police officers of the capital city denied the incident. However, officials at the Central Police Office said an inquiry has been ordered.
