KHAR: Suspected militants blew up a state-run school in Nawagai tehsil of Bajaur Agency, official sources said on Sunday.
They said the militants had planted explosive around the building of the Government Boys Primary School in Kamangarah area in Nawagai tehsil and triggered the blast late in the night. They said the political administration launched a search operation after the incident.
Profiteers arrested in Landikotal, Torkham baza-ars: The Landikotal administration officials raided shops of foods and butchers in Landikotal and Torkham bazaars and arrested dozens of profiteers, officials said on Sunday.
An official said that on the directives of Assistant Political Agent Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah, they started raids on the shops to control price-hike and ensure quality of foods.He said that during the last two days, they conducted several raids on the shops and checked quality and quantity of foods being sold during Ramazan. Irshad said they arrested 15 shopkeepers in Landikotal bazaar and nine profiteers from Torkham border. He said the arrested shopkeepers were exploiting their customers in violation of the prices set by the bazaar committee in Landikotal.
The official said most of the arrestees were selling low quality and unhygienic foods causing various diseases.Smuggling bid foiled, three held in Karak: The police Sunday claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle drug and arrested three inter-provincial drug smugglers, including a woman.
Station House Officer of Yaqoob Khan Shaheed Police Station, Muhammad Yousaf, along with a heavy contingent of police while acting on a tip off, blocked the Takht-e-Nusrati-Darratang road and stopped a suspected car.
The police recovered 10kg hashish from the hidden cavities of the car (AAL616 B) and also arrested three alleged drug smugglers. Those held were identified as Imran, a resident of Bannu, Hussan Pari, wife of Mirqad Ayaz, of Bannu, and Gul Nazar, a resident of Takht-e-Nusrati. Yaqoob Khan Shaheed Police Station registered the case. The accused were shifted to some unknown location for investigations.
