PESHAWAR: The University of Peshawar (UoP) has withheld the pension contribution of a retired professor for his 29 year service in the university in violation of the Supreme Court orders.
The professor demanded Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan, who is also chancellor of the public sector universities, to direct the vice-chancellor of the university to ensure early payment of pension contribution to him.
Prof Dr Zahir Shah, retired from service on April 29, 2015 from Islamia College University. He said he served at the UoP for 29 years before his services were transferred to the Islamia College University on its up-gradation in 2008.
He said it was the responsibility of the UoP to pay him pension contribution for his service in the university. But the university administration refused to pay me the pension on lame excuses, he said.
The retired professor said that the UoP has already paid pension contributions to some 75 retired employees of the Islamia College University but he was denied the same right by the university administration.
