PESHAWAR: A skill enhancement initiative undertaken by Aik Hunar Aik Nagar in collaboration with the UNHCR and Commissionerate Afghan Refugees (CAR) has been re-launched in Peshawar and Nowshera districts for benefiting local populace and 500 Afghan refugees.
The Skill Enhancement & Livelihood Initiative Project II is funded by KfW (German Development Bank), said a press release issued here on Sunday.
The first phase of the training focuses on skill enhancement in which beneficiaries will be given trainings in embroidery, block printing, weaving and jewelry making. This will be followed by enterprise development and marketing training.The skill enhancement phase will also include development of quality samples.
The participants will also be exposed to different business forums, institutions, and markets through exposure visits.An exhibition at the end of the project is also part of the programme to promote the trainees and build sustainable linkages with other stakeholders.At the end of the training, kits will be provided to the participants to launch income generation activities and utilize this opportunity as a sustainable step towards self-reliance.
