PESHAWAR: Prof Zabta Khan Shinwari was designated the laureate of the prize by the director general of Unesco Irina Bokova on the recommendation of an independent international jury of scholars and ethicists
The jurists included Marie-Helene Parizeau (Canada), jury’s chairperson and vice chairperson of COMEST, Luka Omladi? (Slovenia), Rapporteur of COMEST, and Hebe Vessuri (Venezuela), also member of COMEST.
The jury stressed that Prof Shinwari could be a role model in the area of ethics of science because he combined an outstanding personal commitment to ethically responsible research.He is the first scientist in the sub-continent and fourth in the world to win this prestigious award. The prize will be given at a ceremony in Paris (France) on September 30, 2015.
