KP lawyers protest killing of two colleagues

PESHAWAR: The lawyers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday observed a complete boycott of courts to protest the killing of their two colleagues in Daska, Punjab the previous day.
The PHC Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, Justice Asadullah Khan Chamkani, Justice Roohul Amin Khan, Justice Muhammad Daud Khan, PHC Bar Association President Muhammad Fida Gul along with lawyers offered Namaz-i-Janaza in absentia for the slain lawyers at the PHC lawn.
Earlier, the Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) and Peshawar Bar Association, at the general body meeting, condemned the killing of president of Daska Bar Association, Rana Khalid Abbas, and another lawyer Irfan Chauhan allegedly by the SHO City Shahzad Warraich.
The KP lawyers, through a resolution, demanded the Punjab and federal governments to register first information report (FIR) against the killers under Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
PHCBA president Muhammad Fida Gul, general secretary Muhammad Taif, senior lawyers Abdul Latif Afridi, Ghulam Nabi, Jamal Khattak, Pir Fida and Muhammad Ayaz Khan addressed the protest meeting.
The lawyers also staged a protest rally from the PHC main gate to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly building. They were chanting slogans against the Punjab police and government.
