CHITRAL: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government approved the recommendations of the health authorities of Chitral district and granted a category-C status to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Booni.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Israrullah said that the patients and people of far-flung areas had been facing shortage healthcare facilities since long. He said that the Women and Children Hospital, which was lying closed, had had now been opened for the patients.
The official said that the hospitals were facing tremendous problems due to non-availability of electricity. He said that an organisation named Improving Quality of Healthcare Services (IQHS) had also assisted the health officials in the district by providing solar systems to the health facilities where there was no arrangement for electricity.
He said that the government had provided fund for the female and children wards in the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Drosh. The DHO said that the X-ray plant lying disputed since 2006 in the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Drasun tehsil had also been made functional.
