CHARSADDA: The security forces foiled a terrorism bid and defused explosives planted inside a state-run school in Shabqadar tehsil, official sources said on Sunday.They said that the locals of the area spotted some suspicious persons near the Government Middle School in Shno Ghundo locality in Sro Killay and informed the security forces. The forces reached the area and recovered three explosives-fitted pressure cookers, five hand grenades and 10 mortar shells, which were planted inside the school.

‘Bookmakers’ arrested

NOWSHERA: The police claimed to have arrested alleged bookmakers in Pabbi on Sunday.They said that the police was tipped off that several bookmakers had staked huge amount on the Pak-India match near the Pabbi Station.The police raided the house and arrested Sabz Ali, Sadiq, Khyal Muhammad and Shah Jamil. The police seized mobile phones from the bookmakers who had staked money on the Pak-India match.The police also recovered the register containing the details of the staked money.

IG asks trainee ASPs to get ready for challenges

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani has asked the trainee assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) to prepare themselves for impending challenges in their career to prove themselves as custodians of public through better policing.The provincial police chief was talking to an 18-member delegation of under-training ASPs of 41st common of National Police Academy who called on him at the Central Police Office, said an official statement. The delegation also included two female ASPs.Earlier, the DIG Headquarters, Mubarak Zeb Khan, briefed the participants about geographical location and social conditions of the province and the nature of police duty in the region.

13 power thieves arrested in Bannu

BANNU: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) officials along with the police arrested 13 alleged power thieves and disconnected electricity supply to various areas.The officials, including Sub-divisional Officer (SDO) Cantonment Naseeb Khan, SDO Urban Asif Jan, Wapda Circle Chairman Malik Ghulam and others conducted raids in villages on Kohat road, Kot Baili and Hinjal Noorbaz and rounded up 13 defaulters and recovered Rs2,73,000 arrears from them. The officials also disconnected power to three 100KV and 200KV transformers supplying electricity to the residential buildings inside the District Headquarters Hospital, Hinjal Noorbaz and Garhi Sher Ahmad for not paying Rs1.7 million arrears.

NOWSHERA: The activists of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) joined the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) here on Sunday.The dissident activists of QWP, including former nazim Hakeem Khan, former councillor Tila Muhammad Khan, Ghulam Akbar Ghani, Fazle Akbar and Ali Haider along with their relatives and friends joined the PTI. Speaking on the occasion, Member National Assembly (MNA) Dr Imran Khattak and former lawmaker Liaqat Khan said that the PTI-led coalition government was serving the people and that was why the activists of the Pakistan People’s Party and Awami National Party and other parties were joining the PTI.
