KARACHI: Pakistan’s professional boxer Mohammad Waseem on Monday underwent his first training session under English trainer Danny Vaughan at the MTK Gymnasium in Scotland.
Waseem is in Glasgow to begin his new stint with the world’s renowned company, MTK Global.
“Today I underwent training for around two and a half hours in the morning and will also train in the evening,” the Quetta-born fighter told ‘The News’.
Waseem is satisfied with the facilities at the gymnasium and at his residence. “I am really happy as everything is fine here. Trainer Vaughan is a good person. I got a good reception at the airport. I have been boarded at a house adjacent to our gym,” Waseem said. “It’s wonderful to be here and looking forward to achieve my goals.”
Vaughan is also excited to have a good fighter under his training. “I’m really excited to be working with Waseem. He is super-talented and a great addition to my stable,” Vaughan said.
“He is an elite fighter so it shows you we’re doing something right here in Glasgow. We’re going to make an assault on a world title with him this year and we can’t wait to get going,” he said.
After turning pro in 2015, Waseem lifted the World Boxing Council world silver flyweight title in 2016. He then defended the crown the same year. He has won eight and lost one bout.
