LANDIKOTAL: Health workers in Loey Shalman area of Landikotal boycotted the polio campaign this time as they have not been paid wages for the last four campaigns, sources said.Agency Surgeon Dr Samin Shinwari said the Health Department had hired dozens of local persons on daily wage contract to go door-to-door during anti-polio campaign in Loey Shalman.

Dr Samin Shinwari confirmed the polio workers’ boycott and said they had failed to reimburse wages for the last four campaigns in Loey Shalman as area supervisors had not sent them the account details to process their payment on time.

However, he said they had already paid wages to 30 polio teams in Landikotal and would soon release the payment for rest of the teams in the coming days.Dr Samin said he had directed the area supervisors in Landikotal to send him the polio teams’ account details to forward the same to the World Health Organisation.
