NOWSHERA: Hundreds of activists of various political parties and transporters on Monday demolished the toll plaza set up near the Azakhel Park on the Grand Trunk Road by the National Highway Authority (NHA).
Members of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami alobg with the transporters ransacked the building of the toll plaza. They also changed slogans against Federal Minister for Communication Arbab Alamgir.
PPP Member Provincial Council and former chairman district council Ihsaq Khattak, Saeed Babar, Ilyas Khan, Malik Asad and others led the mob that destroyed and ransacked the toll plaza.
A larger number of people belonging to Daag Ismail, Pashtun Garhi, Azakhel, Pirpiai, Amangarh, Khat Killay and other villages arrived in droves and dismantled the toll plaza. The police acted like a silent spectator and made no effort to stop the mobsters.
Speaking on the occasion, Ishaq Khattak and others came down hard on Federal Minister for Communication Arbab Alamgir for imposing tax on the people of Nowshera and said he had done nothing for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the last four and a half years.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that Federal Minister for Communication Arbab Alamgir withdrew the notification of the Azakhel Toll Plaza and directed the officials of the National Highway Authority to rescind the contract.
