PESHAWAR: The Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) Saturday staged protest rally against the killing of the driver of a private TV channel and asked the Peshawar High Court chief justice to take suo moto notice of the incident.

 

Led by KhUJ president Arshad Aziz Malik and general secretary Ali Hazrat Bacha, the journalists brought out the procession from the Peshawar Press Club and marched on the Sher Shah Suri Road to register their anger over the killing of Mohammad Amir, driver of the private channel.

 

Leaders of various political parties including Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour, senior deputy chief Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq and his party colleague Israrullah, provincial president Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid Qasim Ali Shah and his party man Intikhab Chamkani also participated in the demonstration.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Arshad Aziz Malik blasted the police for failure to provide protection to the journalists.
