PESHAWAR: Peaceful rallies were staged Saturday across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the blasphemous film produced in the United States.


Unlike Friday, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the province.


The Jamaat Ahle Sunnat and Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat staged “Death to America” rally in the provincial capital against the sacrilegious movie. Led by Pir Rehmat Qadri, the protesters chanted slogans against US and the producer of the film.


Speaking at a gathering after the rally, chief organiser of Jamaat Ahle Sunnat, Allama Muhammad Ilyas Qadri asked the US to tender an apology for hurting the sentiment of the Muslims.


He said the US was the real enemy of the Muslims as it invaded Iraq, Afghanistan and other Islamic countries while waging its so-called war on terror and killed thousands of Muslims.


He urged the leaders of Islamic countries to form a united bloc as the United Nations had failed to come up to the expectations of the Muslims.


Provincial Health Minister Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Maulana Ihsan Junaidi, Pir Qudratullah, Maulana Abdul Baqi and other religious scholars also spoke on the occasion.


The Muttahidda Rickshaw Drivers Union also staged demonstration against the blasphemous movie. The protesting drivers gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club and chanted slogans against the filmmaker of the profane video. They were also holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the US.


MANSEHRA: The women wing of Jamaat-e-Islami organised a protest rally against the sacrilegious film.


The participants set on fire the American and Israeli flags. Holding banners and placards, the protesters chanted slogans against the US.


Complete shutdown was observed in Battagram district in protest against the blasphemous film.


BISHAM: The activists of Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao (PPP-S) Saturday staged protest against the profane film and blocked the Shahpur Road for traffic.


The protesters torched the US flag and shouted slogans against the persons involved in making the film.


They said the so-called tolerant society of the West must also take notice of the sacrilegious video.


CHARSADDA: The special persons held a rally against the sacrilegious movie. Led by Director Special Education Centre, Azeem Khan, the protesters carrying banners and placards chanted slogans against the US as they walked through various bazaars.


The speakers urged the government to sever ties with the US.


NOWSHERA: People from all walks of life took out a protest rally against the provocative film made in the US.


The protesters chanted slogans against the Jewish lobby and the makers of the blasphemous movie. They asked the government to expel the US ambassador and break off diplomatic ties with the US.


MINGORA: Students of government and private schools, colleges and medical representatives staged a protest rally against the US for allowing the production of the sacrilegious movie.


Led by Shakil Arshad, president of Medical Representative Association, the protesters marched towards the Swat Press Club. They said Muslims could not tolerate disrespect shown to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
