PESHAWAR: Strict security measures were adopted in the provincial capital for peaceful observance of Jumatul Wida on Friday.

Most of the main mosques in the city and Cantonment areas were jampacked for the last Friday prayers of Ramazan. Heavy police contingents were deployed outside Masjid Darvesh, Sunehri Masjid, Masjid Mohabbat Khan, Masjid Al Zarghoni, Spin Jumaat and other big and small mosques in Peshawar.

The cops at the entrances to the main mosques were searching all those coming to the mosques with metal detectors. The police patrolling cars also continued performing duty to maintain law and order as there were threats of sabotage activities on the occasion of Jumatul Wida.

The main Saddar Road has already been closed since Thursday for traffic as part of security measures to foil any terrorist attack during the last week of Ramazan.
