GHALLANAI: A civilian was killed and five Levies Force personnel sustained injuries when the militants attacked a checkpost in Halimzai tehsil in Mohmand Agency, official sources said on Wednesday.

 

The sources said that the militants attacked the Ghaiba Khwar checkpost in Halimzai tehsil from two directions early in the day. Official sources said that the soldiers repulsed the attack and the exchange of fire between the militants and the security forces supported by the pro-government peace committee members continued for two hours.

 

A civilian identified as Behroz Khan was killed in the attack while five Levies soldiers sustained injuries, the sources added. Behroz Khan had come there to join the force and was staying at the post, the sources added.

 

The injured soldiers Irshad, Bakht Rawan, Faizur Rehman, Taj Muhammad and Abdullah sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar.The spokesman for the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Ihsanullah Ihsan claimed responsibility for the attack.

 

The political administration launched search operation in the area after the attack and arrested 110 tribesmen under the collective responsibility section of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) as the attack took place in their area.
