PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Khyber Agency chapter on Friday condemned the firing incident at the Jalozai Camp and demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident.
One person was killed and two women sustained injuries when the camp’s security guards opened fire after the internally displaced persons (IDPs) became unruly at a relief distribution point on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference here, JUI-F senior vice-president Haji Shamsuddin Afridi said discriminatory attitude towards the affectees of Khyber Agency should be done away with and relief goods distributed among them on the basis of original identity card and token.
He said the arrest of the affectees should be stopped and police excesses checked. Shamsuddin said the counters for ration distribution should be increased to save women from standing in long queues.
He stressed the need for opening schools in the Jalozai Camp and solving the problems of affectees of the Jamrud sub-division. The JUI-F leader also demanded “Shuhada package” for compensating the affectees and asked the government to ensure honourable return of the IDPs to their hometowns before Eidul Fitr. He warned of staging protests if the government failed to solve the problems being faced by the IDPs.
