MARDAN: Seven members of a family including two women and four minors were gunned down while a child among three others sustained injuries in a firing incident in the limits of the Jabar Police Station on Sunday night, police sources said.

 

One Mihar Badshah reported to the police that he was asleep on the roof of his uncle’s house in Afzalabad Gaddar at night when the accused Zafeeruddin, Liaqat, Javed, Zulfiqar, Yaqoob, Atiqullah, Ismail, Abid, Qasim and Muzammil forced their entry into the house and opened indiscriminate fire on his family members sleeping in the courtyard.

 

As a result, his uncle Haji Rasool Gul, his wife Mehermand Bibi, their 13-year old son Abdullah and 10-year old daughter Khadija, Ayesha and 26-day old Gulalai died on the spot while Sadia, Iltaza Bibi and three-year old Hasiba were wounded.

 

The injured were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Mardan where one of the children succumbed to her injuries to raise the death toll to seven. The other injured were stated to be in a stable condition.
