PESHAWAR: A local court in Chitral on Tuesday stopped the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Rahmatullah Wazir from constructing a house close to the runway of the Chitral Airport.

The senior civil judge Chitral issued the stay order in an application filed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in which it had requested the court to stop construction of the DCO’s House close to the runway of the airport.

The DCO had filed a case in the court of senior civil judge requesting it to stop the CAA from taking action against his under-construction house. In the meantime the CAA also filed application in the court against the construction of the house.

The CCA lawyer Sajidullah submitted that the DCO be stopped from building the house as it was dangerous to flight safety. The court also summoned secretary defence, director general CAA, DCO Chitral, director legal CAA for June 23 to explain their stands on the construction of the house.

Earlier, the DCO moved the court after a notice issued by the CAA against the construction of the house which the authority believed was close to the runway of the Chitral Airport and could cause problems for the flights.

The official asked the court to cancel the June 13 notice of the CAA and direct the authority not to create hurdles in way of construction of the building.
