Comprehensive plan ‘to be formulated for turning Islamabad into model city’

Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry who visited the CDA headquarters after assuming charge of office said that one year comprehensive action plan would be formulated to turn the federal capital into the most beautiful and a model city of the country.
This plan would cover the enhancement in the green character, improvement of road infrastructure and upgradation of civic facilities in Islamabad.
Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry was briefed in detail about the functions and development projects of the authority. The meeting was attended by the members of the CDA Board and other senior officers of the authority.
Dr. Tariq Fazal has been appointed as the Minister of State for CADD giving CDA under his control at a time when just three days are left to Local Government elections and functions of the civic body would be transferred to the Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation during the months to come.
During the meeting, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that it is highly encouraging that Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is taking keen interest in the development of Islamabad and allocation of special funds for improvement of road infrastructure and up-gradation of civic amenities in the city shows his commitment towards development of the federal capital.
He further said that in order to make Federal capital a model city, in line with the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan, a year-long development action plan would be devised which will bring better results in the future.
He said that in all development projects, special focus would be given to the suggestions of the residents. He said that an effective internal accountability system in the authority would be introduced to discourage corrupt elements and encourage the honest and dedicated officers of the authority.
He said that to provide clean drinking water and other facilities in the city, all formations of the authority would be mobilised.
Member Administration, Amer Ali Ahmed while briefing the state minister said that in order to promote the development activities, CDA has initiated many significant and mega projects in the city while many other projects aimed to improve the basic facilities in the city have also been envisaged which would be launched in near future.
He said that the sitting CDA management has not only initiated new projects in the city but also started development work in the sectors and on the projects which remained stalled for many years and CDA has marked the current fiscal year, a year of development activities.
He said that revamping of the whole city, particularly improvement of the road infrastructure and other basic amenities is being done with special focus on G series sectors. The member administration further briefed that on the directions of prime minister, development work on the first phase of Expressway Signal Free Corridor project would be completed one month prior to the deadline.
