The PEIRA, regulator for private education in the capital, has planned to ask local privately-owned schools and colleges to also offer courses to give students technical education besides formal education.
According to a PEIRA official, private educational institutions impart little occupation-specific skills education to students except for computer knowledge.
"We're initiating a dialogue with the city's private educational institutions to tell them about the importance of education for inculcating occupation-specific skills into students," he said.
The official said as part of the technical education programme, various federal government institutions overseen by the Federal Directorate of Education had already introduced technologies like electrical wiring, wood work, dress making and hardware metal work and motor winding.
He also said one vocational institution located in G-7/4 was imparting technical education in various disciplines, including electrical wiring, plumbing, welding, refrigeration and air conditioning.
The PEIRA administratively overseen by the Capital Administration and Development Division is tasked with regulating the city’s private schools totaling over 1,000.
