The Federal Directorate of Education has asked teachers and other staff members of Islamabad’s government schools to ensure their availability for local body elections slated to take place in the capital territory on November 30.
The FDE oversees the capital’s government educational institutions totaling over 400.
Through separate letters, FDE deputy director Zafar Iqbal Yousafzai asked principals of Islamabad model schools and colleges to ensure that their staff both teaching and non-teaching are available for LG elections-related activities as and when their services are required at the shortest possible time.
A relevant FDE official said the directorate would give the Election Commission around 8,000 teachers from Islamabad Capital Territory’s educational institutions for appointment to polling stations to hold the November 30 local body elections.
He said the election duties would be assigned to teachers by the district returning officer and respective returning officers.
The official said chowkidars (watchmen) would remain available to the ECP even after the school or college hours to facilitate the relevant officials’ visit to the premises for the establishment of polling stations and other election-related activities.
