The City School, Northern Region, honoured its high-achievers here on Wednesday. Around 150 students received shields, certificates and awards for their exceptional performance in O and A levels examinations.
The event was attended among others by the wife of the Chinese ambassador, Diana Bao, Dean and Principal of NUST Dr. Mohammad Hassan Zaidi and Dr. Zhang, vice president of the Confucius Institute at NUML.
City School Principal Mehsoona Waqar, in her welcome address, congratulated students and their parents, emphasising on the strong partnership of parents and the school in making the event a shared goal to be cherished and valued in years to come.
The event was attended by more than 600 people, including parents, management and teachers.
As per tradition, students have once again proven the age old adage that hard work, discipline and academic high standards pay rich dividends if the drive and passion are present and here the role of the school plays a prominent role in ensuring that such expectations are inculcated from the very beginning and consistently ingrained in order to motivate the young minds towards the quest for excellence.
It was a colourful and vibrant ambience displaying the accomplishment and educational journey of the students personified with presentations, videos and pictures.
Their enthusiasm and zest towards learning was duly acknowledged by all present followed by paying homage and recognition to the teachers as without their dedication and selfless commitment the task would have been an impossible dream. Teachers are the ones who sow the initial seeds of learning and hold the power to either make or break a child therefore it is not only a huge responsibility but a debt that one needs to pay to the future generations in full.
Parents, students and the school management were full of praise and applause for the vital contribution made by the teachers in once again maintaining the high standards. The implicit trust and support of the parental community towards the institution has been the constant guiding light towards determining that collaboration is the key to success.
It was followed by the distribution of shields and certificates amongst students and teachers. The keynote speech was given by Shireen Jawaid, regional director of the Northern Region.
