A top leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has threatened to intensify protest movement if murderers of JI leader Haji Tahir Khan are not arrested without any delay.
Addressing a protest demonstration here on Murree Road, the JI central general secretary Liaquat Baloch said that in the next phase, the JI activists would stage sit-in in front of office of District Police Officers if culprits involved in murder of Haji Tahir Khan are not nabbed and taken to task.
The JI activists led by Liaquat Baloch, Rawalpindi ameer Shamsur Rehman Swati, Uzair Hamid, Raza Ahmad Shah Ziaullah Chohan and others marched from Committee Chowk to Waris Khan Chowk where a demonstration was held in front of the police station. The protestors, also carrying banners and placards, were raising slogans against Punjab police.
Haji Tahir Khan, who was also a leader of National Labour Federation and Shabab-e-Milli, was shot dead in jurisdictions of Waris Khan Police Station on October 20, last year.
Liaquat Baloch regretted that Rawalpindi Police while putting behind directives of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and Interior Minister have been protecting murderers and enabled them to flee out of the country. Shamsur Rehman Swati said protest movement of Jamaat would continue till arrest of culprits.
