Pakistan needs to focus on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s vision about education today and same spirit of Aligarh would build the character of our young generation if we want to achieve a respectable place in the comity of nations and stop the dwindling prestige of our nation. This we can do by observing the principles and following the messages of our great leader Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinna.
The wise nations remember their past great leaders and learn to overcome the fast increasing challenges of the world.
This was stated by President Sir Syed Memorial Society and Tehreek-e-Pakistan Gold Medalist Brigadier Iqbal Shafi. He was addressing as the chief guest on the occasion of celebrations of Quaid-i-Azam Day at Aiwan-e-Sir Syed, Islamabad.
Iqbal Shafi said that the young members of the nation need to follow the guidelines provided by their leaders; especially they need the old Aligarh spirit once again today. It was Sir Syed who laid the foundation of modern and scientific education along with character building among the Muslims of the sub-continent followed by Allama Iqbal’s philosophy which grace a dream of independence, especially in his address at Allahabad in 1930, & later the Quiad-i-Azam who within seven years of the 1940 Pakistan resolution at Lahore, achieved Pakistan, an independent country for the Muslims of the sub-continent on 14th August 1947. Brigadier Iqbal Shafi (Alig) said Pakistan is a miracle and it is our duty to safeguard its interests. He asked everybody to ponder as what was common in the three role models that they achieved their near impossible goals against all odds. He explained it was their honesty or truth and love for nationhood along with unbending character that made dream about achieving Pakistan.
He also appreciated the performance if Miss Nighat Gulzar Mirza on the occasion. Ghulam Qadir Khan, Director BECS (General Basic Education Community Schools), said 62 lakh children in the country are out of schools. There are only 12200 schools running under the control of BECS. We have requested to the government to provide more schools for these poor children.
Begum Majeda Iqbal Shafi, Vice President SSMS, said that the performance of non-formal schools children’s was wonderful. Miss Nigaht Mirza well prepared these children’s for the performance because this was not an easy job. We have to create encourage among these children’s. Sir Syed Memorial Society will take every effort to build the mental level of these poor children’s. She also said that special children’s also give a good performance and their teachers should be appreciated.
