Schoolchildren take part in literacy awareness walk

Rawalpindi: The Al Khidmat Foundation Pakistan organised a walk for children on Benazir Bhutto Road in connection with International Literacy Day.
A number of children studying at Aghosh Project's schools participated in the walk held to create awareness about literacy and education. They were carrying placards and banners highlighting importance of the day.
Aisha Syed, an MNA of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI),led the walk. JI Rawalpindi Ameer Shamsur Rehman Swat was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Aisha Syed said only those nations make progress and prosper which give priority to the education sector. She regretted that the Muslim countries were lagging behind in the education sector and needed to take emergency measures to make advancement in this sector. She said that the government would have to increase allocations for the education sector if it wanted to improve the literacy rate.
