Islamabad Police bust gang of extortionists

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police has arrested three extortionists who had made a demand of Rs5 million from a citizen, the police spokesman said.
Anees ur Rehman, a resident of Sector I-8/3, lodged complaint with the Industrial Area Police Station that he had been threatened on his mobile phone by a man, who was demanding Rs5 million from him. The Industrial Area Police registered a first information report (325/15) under 25-D Telegraph Act, 506 PPC and started investigation into the matter.
SSP (Islamabad) Sajid Kiani assigned the task to SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas to investigate the case and ensure arrest of criminals. The SP (Investigation) constituted a special team, including DSP CIA Bashir Ahmed Noon, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Azam, ASIs Muhammad Azeem, Muhammad Akram Ranjah and others.
The team took prompt action and succeeded in arresting Sohail Ahmed, Shehzad and Imtiaz Shah allegedly making threatening calls to Anees ur Rehman for extortion.
Meanwhile, the SIU arrested an accused, Sheeraz, for selling pornographic movies at Sangam Market in Sector I-8/3. Police recovered huge quantity of such movies in a raid on his shop.
SSP (Islamabad) Sajid Kiani appreciated the performance of the SIU team of Islamabad Police and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for all team members. He directed all police officials to intensify efforts and ensure effective policing.
