The National Book Foundation (NBF) has published ‘Systematic Organic Nomenclature’, a book authored by Zia-Ul-Haq, a professor of chemistry, who has many books to his credit, says a press release.
Professor Zia-Ul-Haq Anwar obtained his master’s degree in Chemistry from Islamia University, Bahawalpur. He joined education department as a lecturer in Chemistry in Postgraduate College, Rawalakot, and then served in different institutions. He also served as head of the department of chemistry, acting principal and visiting professor at the Allama Iqbal Open University. He is author of a textbook for Allama Iqbal Open University named ‘Laboratory Techniques in Chemistry’ which is a part of syllabus of AIOU. The book of 336 pages has a price tag of Rs220.
The author has explained that this book is written for the college and university students of organic chemistry. This book is an effort to provide a comprehensive account of the topic addressing trivial as well as IUPAC nomenclature of organic compounds.
The author has stated that the book elaborates the IUPAC rules of naming all functional groups in a step-wise manner with examples. There are 26 chapters included in this book and each chapter is accompanied with an exercise so that student can self assess the understanding of the rules. The author has dedicated this book to his daughter Dr. Javaria Zia, whose early departure has made everybody weep but her sweet memories are always a source of inspiration and strength for his broken heart.
