Faizan Aslam Soofi, an 11-year-old seventh grade student, joined the writers club with the launch of his new children’s fiction book ‘Instrumental Queens’ in Islamabad.
Faizan, a student of Aitchison College, Lahore, has distinguished himself in the children’s fiction genre by previously publishing a novella, ‘The Howl,’ as well as a host of short stories in the country’s leading English dailies.
In his latest novel, Faizan has weaved elements of fantasy into finely crafted words which leave an enduring impression upon the minds of the reader.
At the ceremony, Faizan impressed the audience by crisply reading selective paragraphs from his latest work, besides interacting with them in a question and answer session and signing copies of his books.
Secretary-General of Oxford and Cambridge Societies Irshad Ullah Khan presided over the launching ceremony as chief guest. In his address to the gathering, he congratulated Faizan on his brilliant achievement at a tender age and termed his work pioneering in the children’s fiction genre.
He said that he felt encouraged and optimistic about Pakistan’s future with young minds like Faizan around who will no doubt push forward the rich literary traditions of our country.
Notable ex-bureaucrat and agriculture expert Dr. Zafar Altaf also spoke on the occasion and praised Faizan’s prolific writing abilities. The ceremony was attended by a large number of children, school teachers and members of the city’s intelligentsia.
