After issuing Rs50 million need-based scholarships, the National Testing Service (NTS) will disburse scholarships amounting to more than Rs150 million among deserving students of 40 public and private sector universities under the second phase of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The NTS has completed its first phase of need-based scholarships. Stipends of Rs5,000 were given per month to 373 graduates and undergraduate students of 25 universities during the financial year 2014-15.
According to NTS Spoke-sman Shakeel Akhtar, the scheme is quite popular among students. The universities refer the names of deserving students to the NTS for scholarships. Currently, the scheme is benefiting the students of 25 universities. The NTS has included more than 15 universities for it under the second phase of the scheme. Furthermore, it is proposed that an amount of Rs25,000 would be given to students as semester expen-ses in addition to the Rs5,000 monthly payment.
The NTS is a leading testing and assessment agency of Pakistan. It supplements more service divisions through innovating and exploring new avenues for improving testing and assessment system in the country. It has 14-year working experience in this field. The NTS has the capability to administer tests of 300,000 candidates per day simultaneously in 68 cities of Pakistan with the
help of 12,000 trained staff.
It has its own indigenous
software for preparation of result and 475,000 test items bank followed by approximately 3,000 scholars and educationists.
