Minister of State for the Capital Administration and Development Division Barrister Usman Ibrahim has inaugurated the long-awaited work on the establishment of FG College of Home Economics, Management Sciences and Specialised Disciplines F-11/1 by unveiling the plaque.
The CADD secretary and senior officials accompanied the minister to the ceremony, where the current and former college principal, teachers and other staff members showed up in large numbers.
Work on the college is likely to be completed by 2016.
The minister said he was pleased to participate in the ceremony organised to celebrate the addition of another seat of learning in Islamabad.
"It's a great moment that an independent college of home economics for bright girls of Islamabad is being established. I want to congratulate all those who have contributed towards establishing this institution," he said.
The minister said establishment of the home economics college was the dream of the students and teachers and that dream would soon be fulfilled.
"Through full commitment honesty and professionalism, we can take this institution to new stature," he said.
The minister said no nation could progress if half of its population was unproductive.
"Pakistani women are working hand in hand with their male counterparts in every walk of life. It is the responsibility of the government to provide opportunities to them to develop and enhance their skills," he said.
