Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who conducted a daylong visit to Karachi on Wednesday for ascertaining situation on ground personally about ongoing heatwave and its impact on Karachi and adjoining areas, would be visiting the metropolis later this month for extensive study of the overall situation including the campaign against criminals and terrorists.
Highly placed sources told The News here that the prime minister had done his homework about Karachi situation meticulously before embarking upon the city and had studied the reports submitted by his two fact-finding teams that had extensive visit of the city last week. He took important decisions and made two major announcements during his trip to Karachi; one announcement was about hefty grant on behalf of the federal government for K-4 project and its completion in a year time while the other was about the Green Metro Bus Service for Karachi that would be completed within 18 to 24 months with full assistance of the federal government.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is devoting attention to problems of Sindh and especially Karachi and amount of the time he has been granting had not been dedicated by the former prime ministers. He took heavy contingent of the federal ministers with him to take stock of the situation in Karachi including Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senator Mushahidullah Khan, General Abdul Qadir Baloch, Saira Afzal Tarar and Additional Secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad. He had meeting with four delegations associated with the efforts for overcoming the situation. The prime minister provided guidelines to the provincial administration to control the catastrophic developments taking place due to the harsh weather. He did whatever is required to be done by him in-line with the constitution and call of a duty of leader in Karachi. The visit of Nawaz Sharif to Karachi would help greatly in better working and coordination between the federal and provincial machinery.
