Islamabad: The national watchdog for higher education, HEC, has announced it has no agents or consultants to attest academic degrees.
The people wanting to go abroad for studies or employment are required to get their degrees, issued by the country’s universities and degree-awarding educational institutions, attested by HEC.
According to HEC director general (accreditation and attestation) Farmanullah Anjum, it has been observed that in some cases, the people engage ‘agents or consultants’ for attestation of their degrees and transcripts.
“Contrary to our attestation procedure, the agents or consultants paste fake HEC stamps and tickets on original degrees and transcripts of their clients. As a result, all these degrees and transcripts are confiscated when they’re submitted to us for attestation,” he said.
The HEC director general said since agents or consultants in question were not accredited or approved by his organisation, the people shouldn’t contact them for degree attestation and follow the attestation standard operating procedure posted on its official website. “HEC has engaged no agents or consultants for attestation or equivalence of degrees,” he said.
