Residents of many localities spend sleepless night

The residents of city and cantonment localities spent a sleepless night on Friday due to worst kind of power breakdown as fault appeared in 220 KV Grid Station Rawat and 132 KV Grid Station Adiala last night.
The breakdown started at 3:50 a.m. and continued till the filing of this report on Saturday evening as fault could not be removed.
The helpless residents not only spent sleepless night but faced water shortage as there was no light. All the water filtration plants in the jurisdictions of affected localities were without water due to the reason.
Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) Executive Engineer (XEN), Tariqabad, Faizullah Khan told ‘The News’ that main fault appeared in 220 Grid Station Rawat and 132 KV Grid Station Adiala. Therefore, people living in majority of localities faced power outage. We are trying to rectify fault to restore electricity in all affected areas, he claimed.
People have not only been facing extremely hot weather, but also bearing worst kind of power outages for three to four days.
On Friday night, the power remained off from 9:00 p.m. to 10:10 p.m and then from 12:15 a.m. to 1:20 a.m., again from 3:50 a.m. till the filing of this report on Saturday evening in Adiala Road, Kalyal, Defence Road, Al-Mumtaz Colony, Dhoke Juma, Sher Zaman Colony, Munawar Colony, Dhama Syedan, Ali Town, Gulshanabad, Talhi Mohri, Dheri Hasanabad, Bakra Mandi, Dhamial, Dhoke Kalhoor, Mubarak Lane, Morgah, Soan Camp, Rawat and several other localities.
The residents of these localities spent the whole night outside their houses as hot and humid weather and mosquitoes never allowed them to sleep. The loadshedding has been resorted for three days with the soaring temperature.
The residents of Rawalpindi and its adjacent areas said that what would happen in the holy month of ‘Ramazan’. “We tried to contact Iesco officials after power breakdown but all telephone numbers of officials were busy or off,” they said.
Malik Muhammad Iftikhar, a resident of Bakramandi, said that how we could sleep without fans at night. “We faced bad situation when light completely disappeared at 3:50 a.m. and mosquitoes freely attacked,” he said.
Irfan Ahmed, a resident of Saleha Street at Defence Road, said that they spent a sleepless night on Friday as hide and seeks of electricity remained continue the whole night. “We are not only facing hot and humid weather for the last three days but facing worst kind of loadsheding as well,” he claimed.
Shabbir Ahmed, a resident of Adiala Road, said that they were facing long hours of loadshedding, which proved that the government could not provide electricity to the public even in the month of Ramazan. “Fan is the only source for getting relief from heat, but it cannot be operated without electricity,” he said.
He appealed to the government to provide an uninterrupted power supply at least in the month of Ramazan.
