Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with two different non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to arrange free education of out of schoolchildren in education-wise backward districts of Southern Punjab.
PEF Director (NSP) Maleeha Batool signed agreement on behalf of the foundation, says a press release issued here on Monday.
Under the MoUs, BRAC Pakistan and Ghazali Education Trust will open low-cost schools as per need assessment in two districts of Punjab to educate a total of 32,000 out of school children during the current academic year. These schools will be opened under “New School Program” (NSP) of the foundation; while PEF will provide monthly fee and textbooks to the students.
Meanwhile, PEF Managing Director (MD) Dr. Aneela Salman has welcomed this MoU and hoped that this partnership will open new avenues for the deserving out of school children. She said that the NSP is helping to promote free schooling particularly in the remote areas through private entrepreneurs.
This initiative is part of our commitment to ensure free quality education for every deserving child in Punjab, especially the girls, so that they could change their lives through education, she added.
