The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has devised special traffic plan for the upcoming visit of Chinese President and 416 cops will perform special duties on various alternate routes to ensure convenience to road users.
According to this plan, alternate routes have been identified for the citizens of Islamabad while entry of heavy traffic will not be allowed in specific time while small vehicles to be allowed to move on alternate routes due to closure of some boulevards.
The heavy traffic coming from Lahore would not be allowed to use Expressway and they will have to use alternate route from Rawat T-Cross for Rawalpindi Saddar, GT Road and Peshawar.
Similarly, heavy traffic coming from Peshawar would not be allowed to enter Islamabad as well as IJP Road and they would have to use route from Chungi no.26, Meharabad to go towards Rawalpindi and Lahore.
Likewise, heavy traffic coming from Murree would be stopped at ‘17 Meel Tool Plaza’ while those coming from Kahuta Road will be diverted towards Rawat T-Cross from ‘Kak Bridge’.
Alternate routes have been specified for motorists following which those coming from Lahore for Islamabad will be diverted towards Bharia Town from PWD Colony while traffic to be diverted towards Rawalpindi from Judicial Colony.
Those moving towards ‘Taramri Chowk’ will be given access towards their destination from Ghori Town, Barma Town, Ali Pur Farash. Similarly, those moving towards Koral Chowk would use NIH or Bani Gala, Barma Town and Ghori Town roads.
The motorists coming from Bhara Kahu are informed to use Korang Town, Bani Gala via Park Road to reach Taramri Chowk while traffic coming from Barri Imam or Parliament House would be diverted towards State Bank from right side of Radio Pakistan.
Traffic coming from Bazar Road will divert from Sohrwardi Road from Aabpara Chowk.
Motorists coming from 7th Avenue or Daman-e-Koh will use Margalla Road, Faisal Avenue.
Those moving towards Rawalpindi from Faisal Avenue would use the Rescue-15 U-Turn, Noori Hospital Round about, AGPR Loop and Kashmir Highway.
Motorists coming from Lahore via Motorway are requested to use Kashmir Highway, AGPR Loop, G-8 and G-7 roads. Those wanting to move towards Rawalpindi from IJP Road are asked to use Stadium Road after moving right from 9th Avenue.
The traffic coming from I-8 Signal will use Al-Shifa Hospital, H-8 Graveyard Roundabout enter G-8 while Garden T-Cross will remain closed for those coming from I-8 or H-8.
The Expressway from Koral Chow to Garden Chowk and Faisal Avenue till Rescue-15 U-Turn will remain closed in specific times. Similarly, Murree Road from Faizabad to Rawal Dam Chowk, Kashmir Chowk and Serana Hotel, Kashmir Highway from Peshawar More to Serena will remain closed.
Constitution Avenue from Radio Pakistan to Serena hotel and Soharwardi Road from Embassy Road to Serena hotel will remain closed. Ataturk Road from Serena hotel to Nadra Chowk will also remain closed.
ITP has appealed to citizens to avoid travelling without any reason and cooperate with its cops.
