The Roots Millennium School (RMS) has consistently been involved in celebrating Earth Hour over years. This year’s event was inaugurated at RMS One World Campus, E-11/4, on Thursday, says a press release.
Earth Hour is a global environmental initiative of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Everyone across the world is encouraged to participate in the world’s largest voluntary action for the environment. This is an iconic symbol of people’s commitment to protect the planet. The theme for Earth Hour celebrations this year was ‘Change Climate Change’.
The star cricketer, Shoaib Malik, showed up to support the cause. Following the tradition, all lights were switched off and candles were lit. The RMS student community attended the inauguration ceremony in large numbers. Every child carrying a candle undertook a solemn pledge to save energy and to be proactive in environment-related campaigns. The guest judges along with RMS management and the WWF team participated in the symbolic march afterwards.
Roots Millennium Schools CEO Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq, TI, lent his support to the event. He spoke on the pressing need of using our power to change climate change. He emphasized upon the requirement of exploring renewable energy sources like solar, hydro and wind power. The evening ended on a high note with students, faculty members, parents, guardians and celebrity guests taking a more determined stance to raise awareness on environmental issues.
